3300lbs for M3, ~3500 for TTZ But I think the balance thing is subjective. I think most people confuse the handling aspect with the nimbleness or small feeling of the car. I know everytime I drive the BMW, it feels smaller, only because it is so narrow and the hood completely drops out of sight. The Z's hood drops, but not as much because you are sitting lower and it is a far wider car! The bimmer feels smaller. And for the 50/50, big deal. If you know how to drive, you drive a line better suited for your car. Personally, I've noticed when I have the BMW sideways, you really have to be quick to make sure it doesn't snap in the other direction. Momentum really gets the best of that car. The reason I complain about that is the steering ratio is so slow, it is really hard to do quick coutersteers like in the Z(nice quick steering ratio :) and then correct, smoothly. The suspension on the Z is superior to that of the M3. The M3 has a very flexible chassis (I think a major flaw point) and needs work with the shocks and springs (too soft and a lot of lean). Granted a well set-up M3 (the majority of M3s we see at tracks) are great cars, but that takes lots of $$$. For the same money, the TTZ can be made exponentially better, or kept stock and still be just as good as the modded M3. Other complaints about the M3 I have is the steering ratio is so slow, the car flexes and really shows its sedan like properties at the limit (doesn't feel like a real sports car), and the build quality is far from what you would expect for a BMW. Granted I love BMW M's and will continue to buy them, I just don't think they are as sporting (relatively) in character. I know you road race, so you should know by now that the car mags aren't good for sujective ratings. You really need to take the cars out and drive them yourselves. For C/D, they are a bunch of older guys who are losing their edge comparing sports cars. Completely rawness and perfect track cars don't go well with them b/c their backs are aching and they are trying to find comprimise in a more practical, more affordable package. This doesn't allow a real objective measure for the best track car or something that handles which is related. Do you really believe the M3 is a better handler than a F355, or NSX or Supra for that matter (cars I remember that were in the test)? It's not. PeaZe,
